ARBS 08 Actrol at its very best

How good can it get? Once again the Actrol stand and gala evening event were the talk of ARBS. This year Actrol received even more accolades, winning the Best Exhibit award reflecting Actrol’s intent to be the very best in the eyes of our customers.

Displaying more than 150 different products from some of the world’s best known brands, the Actrol stand was once again the meeting point at the show.

This year around 400 guests joined us at the prestigious Melbourne Town Hall. With a variety of entertainment and great food, it was again the most talked about function at ARBS.

Actrol take this opportunity to thank each and every person who visited us at ARBS. We hope those that didn’t make it this time will get a chance to see us in 2010 in Sydney. A special note of appreciation goes to all of our key suppliers and staff whose support and hard work ensured Actrol’s success at ARBS 2008.

Actrol Road Show '07

“Best road show event ever in this town”, “It was good be able to catch up, see stuff we hadn’t seen before, and talk about tech issues with the experts” and “We were amazed. Everybody was there. It was good to have the chance for an industry get together.”

These are just a few of the comments made by visitors to the Queensland leg of the Actrol Road Show ‘07. Everywhere the Show went, people came. This is definitely the biggest and the best Actrol Road Show ever.

Actrol travelled to Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville and Cairns – 2000 kms in all, to make it easy for regional customers to visit….. well, fairly easy. Some people travelled up to 7 hours to visit the Show.

Actrol took a 7 tonne truck and a team of 24 Actrol staff and suppliers, so that visitors could see a huge array of products, learn some new tricks, ask questions, and discuss issues with industry people who really know their stuff. The whole idea is to help Actrol customers make more money.

The Actrol Road Show ‘07 has travelled throughout regional Queensland, and then on to South Australia, Northern Territory before moving onto New South Wales. The whole team of 24 Actrol staff and suppliers have been delighted to have the chance to explain what’s new on the market, provide tips and tricks to make more money, and to answer questions from customers – especially those whose regional location sometimes makes it hard to organise a face to face meeting with Actrol staff and suppliers.

There’s just nothing else like the Actrol Road Show for business people working in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry. And the icing on the cake …. many visitors to the Road Show will WIN Cool Cash n’ Prizes.

The Actrol Road show is still on the road, and moving through Western NSW and Victoria now.

Actrol, Australia’s leading national suppliers of air conditioning and refrigeration parts, are determined to provide industry leadership by ensuring that their customers have easy access to the stock they need, when they need it and where they need it. Refrigerants, Today & Tomorrow

Refrigerant Tanks

Should we be concerned?

Australian consumption of HCFCs in 2006, which is predominantly R22 refrigerant, exceeded the import quota available.

In 2007 excess stockholdings will not be available.

Some smaller wholesalers ran low or out of R22 in late 2006. This is likely to be repeated in 2007, perhaps to a much greater extent.

In 2008 the import quota drops yet another 23%. If there is not enough available in 2007 what will happen then? At the same time, prices are expected to rise rapidly.

The import quotas are set. There will be no reprieve.

Refrigerant Graph

As you can see by this graph, minimising future use will be important, as the estimated demand exceeds the availability. Now is the time to discuss with your customers their future cooling requirements.

This will help your customers budget for future costs for remedial work to reduce their emissions, retrofit to a different refrigerant or possibly to replace their existing equipment entirely.

Actrol can assist you with all these options and more…

R22 Price Rise - January 1st 2007

As predicted the reductions in import volumes of HCFCs have led to a further price rise for R22 and other HCFCs on January 1st 2007. Invoice price will rise between $0.80 and $1.00. The new list price for R22 will be $32.50/kg.

In 1996 the total volume of HCFC imports allowed into Australia was 250 ODP tones per year. Every 2 years since 2000, this maximum import quota has been lowered. In 2006 and 2007 the quota has been reduced to only 130 ODP tones, a 48% drop from 1996. Next year (2008) this is reduced further to 100 ODP tones. In simple terms we lose 23% of our current import capacity. Such reductions are already impacting on our pricing and availability of product like R22.

Refrigerant Reclaim Australia (RRA) Levy Price Rise

RRA have recently had approved by ACCC, an increase to its levy on refrigerant gas imported and sold in Australia from $1.00/kg to $1.50/kg plus GST effective 1st January 2007.

R22 Price Rise

The invoice price of R22 will rise on October 1st 2006 by nearly $1.00/kg. This year import quotas for HFCs were further reduced, now 48% lower than the quota at the quota at the beginning of the HCFC phase out in 1996. These reductions in import volumes will invariably lead to further price rise in the near future.

Industry Information 01/04/2006

Key industrial metals charge to fresh record highs
Copper, a necessity in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry, continues to set new price levels on world markets. So what does this mean? As the base cost of copper rises, so do the manufacturing costs of all items that use copper during production. As a side affect, oil prices continue their rise along with exchange rate variations. With all these factors combined, costs of most items used in our industry are rising dramatically. Copper tube has increased by 14% this calendar year alone. Whilst continuing to work with suppliers to contain costs wherever possible, in some instances list prices will need to be adjusted.

Blue Diamond Condensate Pump

Blue Diamond

(Cat No. 550080)
The Blue Diamond 2 is a heavy duty pump ideal for large &/or problematic installations. It easily copes with sludge & can even run dry. Actrol have sole wholesale distribution on this at present (Feb 06). There is nothing like it.

Single Phase Acpac

Single Phase Acpac

The Acpac range has just been extended with ten new models to cover smaller refrigeration requirements. The most common applications such as restaurants, hotels and small supermarkets requiring cabinets, cool-rooms and freezers are covered with the smaller refrigeration capacities of the new Acpac range.

Housed in a new vertical air discharge cabinet and utilising single phase L’Unite Hermetique CAJ and FH compressors from Tecumseh Europe the extended range consists of six medium/high and four low temperature models.

The entire Acpac range has a very competitive list price and includes many items only available as options on other brands. All Acpac’s are HTA rated (the High Temperature Answer) and have condenser fan control meaning all models are suitable for ambient temperatures of +46°C enabling them to be reliably operated in all areas of Australia no matter the climate. The total installed cost of Acpac is on par with conventional condensing units as on site labour and electrical costs are dramatically reduced.
